Here is one example how to make calibration pulses in CoolEdit for calibrating DIY GM counter.
Procedure:
1. Generate -> Tones
Then set values as is show on first part of that picture (for 500 C/M, it is 8.3333 Hz, or 8.3333 * 60 = ~500 C/M).
2. Effects -> Amlitude -> Amplify
Set Peak level to 0 (zero) dB, and click on calculate, it should show 6 dB amplification. Then click 'OK' button.
3. Effects -> Filters -> Quick Filter
Set that filter as is in third part of this picture. After filtering it should look as is shown on last two parts of the picture. Note difference in appearance in 500 and 50000 C/M. This is because that way of producing precise sound for calibration of the GM counter is not the ideal, but it is good enough for our purpose.
I think that it is better to calibrate DIY GM counter to some degree of accuracy in C/M (counts per minute) than guessing. | Dunkler Spatz posted a photo:

"There is nothing better than starting your day with a good cup of coffee!"
My dad was on a job trip to Houston for a week. Today we picked him up at Schiphol Airport. Since our airport is a great place to photograph different kind of people, different kind of moods and places, I took my camera with me because I had plenty of time to shoot. This is one of the photos that came out this morning. Mmm, there's really nothing better than starting your day with Starbucks. ^-^ | ?ey memories posted a photo:

For today's shot I felt like a good cleansing picture would do the trick. I worked all day and am tired and sore from the past few days of manual labor. Working for a landscaping company during this time of the year isn't the most fun...lots of leaves, mud, and solid earth.
It felt good to get home, take a shower, eat a few ibuprofen and kick up my feet for a bit!
The weekend shall commence!...but it is supposed to snow tonight, which means there will be more work to do. Pray for no snow in Kansas City! |
