Great Blue Herons are usually about 42 - 46 inches tall, Slate Blue body, Long neck, Long legs. These were nesting high atop some trees in the wetlands. I saw at least 7 maybe 8 of these all in some phase of nesting - except this one. This one pretty much just stayed on the end of this branch.

Forty four of my flickr friends and I had a meet up today at Gatorland in Orlando Florida. Gatorland is an attraction in central Florida that opened in 1949. They have all kinds of Alligator oriented activities like alligator wrestling and other reptile shows and demonstrations.
They also have a huge bird rookery where hundreds of wild birds roost, breed, nest and rear their young. The birds are what our flickr group came too see and wow! Did we ever see them.
It was really nice to see many friends that I have made from participating in our flickr community. I have met some fine people as a result of being a member of flickr. We had a great time and many thanks to Mike Godwin who is the owner of Gatorland and he is the one who made it really nice for all of us there today.
This is an image of a Tri Colored Heron. I am not sure wheather it is male or female but it is all dolled up in its breeding plumage.
