Best viewed on BLACK.
Went out last night to get a few test shots with my new Samyang 14mm f2.8 and it really worked a treat. Manual focusing really is not that bad, especially for night and landscape photography as I usually MF anyway.
For those of you interested in this lens then my opinion is that it is a great lens if your on a tight budget like me and you want to go full frame. The lens is perfectly sharp between f/4-16, of course the lens has a few disadvantages such as soft at f2.8 and soft at f stops higher than f16 as expected. The 14mm "wide" view is not necessarily that wide on a crop sensor camera when compared to the 8.5mm equivalent view on full frame. Overall from my experience so far this lens is well worth the money, has good build quality and is super sharp within the stated f stop range.
The orange colour in the sky is produced by the light pollution from London.

Got a new blue backdrop today. I know the lighting is off in this photo, but it's the first photo I got that was useable. I really need soft boxes! |

I went to a roth pond inside school after the sunset. Extremely dim light, handheld, manual focus, and low shutter speed, and great sharpness. Though this lens cannot focus that well at night, but the big aperture really helped to take clear photos. Again, impressive lens. |
