Let?s face it ? when it comes to standing in the presence of a 100 year old automobile like the 1912 Model T Ford Commercial Roadster in this VivaChas! Photograph I was like a child staring into the Candy Shop Window~:0)
This Model T was as close as one might get t0 having a Steam-Punk experience wearing regular clothes. I found m?self constantly looking over me shoulder expecting to see Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson taking notes whilst munching Purdy?s Chocolate. Everyone on the shoot was drooling so that we had to pull in to a well-know confectionary on the ride home for a Choco-fix! What a Rush! ? Inspired me to get more pictures done ? that and the chocolate goodies all enjoyed on the return trip ~:0) VivaChas! |

A first for me, but it won't be the last.... shooting dudes. I'll have to confess, and my stream will lay testament to this, but when looking at imagery for inspiration the female of the species tends to figure heavily, very heavily. Very very heavily. And so my inspiration and ideas for how to shoot a dude were kinda lacking. If it don't have boobs and look pretty then what the hell do I do with it? (If you'll excuse my objectifying models for a moment ;) ). But I had a chance to shoot with Joel Hicks at Click Photography Studio in Redditch and, although I was kinda winging it, I surmised that a physique like his needed strong lighting to bring out those lines. A gritty and sharpened processing technique finished it off to come up with something that wouldn't look out of place advertising Diesel attire... I reckon anyway.
I couldn't recommend Joel enough, not only looking the part but arriving with a wardrobe to rival any woman's, professional to a tee (or a 'p'), easy going and with plenty of experience to help out a newby dude-shooter with no idea how to direct him. | AVL Photography posted a photo:

I recently did a photo shoot with local heavy metal band Wrath of Eidola here on Okinawa Japan. The idea was to get some promotional shots the band could use in conjunction with the release of their new album "Sentinel". We decided to start with a studio shoot, then head to the beach for a few out door shots. For the studio shoot I opted to shoot them all individually and then recompile the images into a group shot later, the main reason for this was to create a more interesting lighting effect when the shot was compiled. I think it worked out pretty well.
Strobist info:
1.mainlight to camera left 400ws mono strobe through 24" softbox
2 400ws monostrobe through 2m strip bank camera right 45 degrees behind band.
3. 400ws monostrobe as a hairlight.
reverse settings for 2 members to camera right of center.

We decided to start with a studio shoot, then head to the beach for a few out door shots. Here is one of the outdoor shots, we were hoping for some bad weather so I could do a super long exposure and get the clouds ripping around, but as usual here in Okinawa the weather doesn't like to co-operate with photographers and the light became harsh and the sky blue, so had to add some heaviness in post production. | jessekline posted a photo:

Got a new blue backdrop today. I know the lighting is off in this photo, but it's the first photo I got that was useable. I really need soft boxes! |
