Like many photographers, I enjoy 'playing' with my images at times, seeing what happens when they are manipulated with some of the many art filter programs that are available.
One of my favourites is the Impasto filter of Virtual Painter. I think I enjoy it because it is such a direct opposite to the fine detail in photos, instead creating a broad-stroke version of my images that emphasizes design. (My major at the Ontario College of Art was advertising design....)
So I'm going to upload a few of my art conversions, every now and then. Here are the first five, starting with one of the photos of our dog Sheba enjoying herself on an Atlantic Ocean beach in 1999. I'll link to the photo for each one, as well.
i've been so tired lately, don't know why..
working on getting my website all ready to go, working out the kinks and everything...how exciting!!
I don't have a damn thing planned for this saturday and sunday and i couldn't be more excited about it... time to get stuff done and get caught up on photos and rest :)
i love my pup, he is the sweetest! Even if he does chew through his $30 harnesses.... grrrrr!!!!
<3
hope you are all doing well, this is the first "i thought of this idea for 365 and actually did it" 365 pic :) Yay me!!!
venturing out into the rain today, I came across this gorgeous canine. From a distance I first thought it was a sheep, but there are no sheep at Ambleside beach. Just a big, old pup.
I met Helen Morgan shortly after I'd posted my first few photographs on flickr. A couple of years later, with cards and emails going back and forth, she and her husband, Mike, along with little Iris (I'm her Auntie Wellies) are like an extended family to me. Just look what came in the mail today. I'm sure Helen could hear me shouting for joy all the way across the Pacific in Australia. She knit me the most incredible wool hat that's the colour of the sand and sea. There's a border of teapots at the top, a border (too precious for words) of Casper and Indy, waves and popcorns around the brim representing the rocks and beach glass I collect. It fits like a charm and will be perfect for all those winter beach walks with the dogs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Helen!
