this is a rocking chair i found today. it used to be mine when i was a liitle girl and i was going to sit in it but i don't fit anymore and it makes me sad but i got a good picture.

I turned 30 in December and I decided it was time to get serious about quitting smoking. To help me quit, my doctor prescribed me Zyban. Zyban is Wellbutrin repackaged as a smoking cessation aid- but Wellbutrin is prescribed to combat depression, which thankfully I do not suffer from.

For the first two weeks of taking Zyban you are supposed to keep smoking and then at the two week mark, you double your Zyban intake and then start trying to quit. The first few nights that I took Zyban I had very vivid dreams. On the fourth night I had even more vivid dreams and some bizarre sleep talking and even experienced what I think is called sleep paralysis- where I was awake and conscious but I could not move for about 30 seconds and insomnia. On the fifth night I had vivid dreams accompanied by sleep walking, and followed by insomnia. The following day I felt horrible. Depression, anxiety, nausea, anger...to name a few of the symptoms. At that point I decided to stop taking the Zyban.

The night that I stopped taking the Zyban I had what I would call withdrawal symptoms. I had tremors for 2.5 hours and a severe anxiety attack, then more depression and insomnia. The following three nights I had insomnia, more vivid dreams, and awoke feeling depressed and anxious. However, the symptoms started to lessen with each subsequent day.

I am now on my 4th day without the Zyban and today I felt almost completely normal but I expect that tonight I will have more vivid dreams and insomnia.

I realize that not everybody reacts to these kinds of medications the same way, but for what it is worth, I would not advise anyone to take Zyban to quit smoking because the risk of adverse side effects is just not worth it.

I'm going to stick to cold turkey, and when the time is right, it will work.

1. I'm a minimalist, just not a very good one.

2. I live in a 550 sq. ft. house with my daughter and dog. The love and joy we share is astounding.

3. Used to own a Publishing company, (newspaper, magazine, print shop, design studio), a heating and air conditioning company, chiropractic office, and worked as a real estate agent (not all at the same time).

4. Know the words to every song I ever heard from the year 1965-2000, but sometimes can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.

5. Everybody in Boulder has an "inner child". I have an "inner sweetheart" and he buys me jewelry and shoes.

6. Read 15th century poetry for comfort and love loud rock and roll (especially in the car where it can't get out)

7. Type 145+ wpm, it's a curse.

8. Love the snow, can walk barefoot in it. Last time I skied I broke both thumbs.

9. Domestically impaired and occasionally swear (only two bad habits, not bad)

Grew up the daughter of a single father who owned a steel contracting company and a scuba diving shop, he flew planes, always had big boats, raced cars every Sunday night and played all night poker every Saturday. He always took me and my sister with him. Our only female influence (until I was a teenager) was my head librarian grandmother. Kat and I spent the summers with her, 9-6, 5 days a week, in the Public Library.

11. I haven't slept for 3 months. (might be because I miss my sister) Might have to try sleeping on the roof. It's a great place to hide and stay cool.

12. Embarrassed by the fact that I have asthma ~ keeps me from dating, mountain climbing and oil painting.

13. Love games and kill at poker. Can't do Trivial Persuit or Rubik's cubes.

14. I am an incredibly kind person, an excellent friend, and will always be there for you if you are one.

15. Fall in love at the drop of a hat, but learned not to do anything about it.

16. Have an almost magical sense of intuition.

There are two versions of this portrait. This is the one where I'm not actually sitting and peeing. Yikes! I don't think I'm ready to share quite that much with the world.

Also, let me remind you that I don't have a remote for my camera, just a good-old-fashioned 10-second timer. It was quite a scene in the bathroom. Good thing everyone else was gone for the evening.
