with the permission of INDIAN families
who actually move out of the way during Cremations so that I have clear view, I have shot 'NIGHAM BODH Ghat " over 20 years. It lays near a bridge crossing over the Yamuna river.
It is an amazing place to shoot discretely but with conviction, courtesy and deliberateness.
Try to even take out your camera in silly BENARES/Varanasi without some shmuck approaching you
to NOT TAKE PHOTOS here!
Scams galore.
some naive tourists actually listen!
or
they are walked up to a tower overlooking the burning ghats by this same shmuck who pastes a phony sticker on his shirt with the word GUIDE or tell you so then hits you for BAKSHISH.
I love these guys in BENARES . I get all my aggression out on them. ITs allright for 1000 people to stand there and look at bodies being burned but a photo is not allowed.
I have the utmost respect for INDIA and their people.
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont travel 10 thousand miles NOT to shoot what i call amazing and interesting.
why buy a camera why travel why let interesting human events not be photographed?
why ??????????????????????????????
