One gearwheel out of a train of eight, fitted with an encoder disk. This is part of a Hitari Tumbler toy car that I'm converting into a robot. One thung I want to do is to add encoders like this to the drive train for accurate speed control of the motor, and odometry. | onephotonerd posted a photo:

i chopped off a piece of the paper feed shaft so I can experiment with getting the encoder and motor to work. here i have the adafruit motor shield on an arduino and i "just" need to figure out if i can juggle enough pins to get the an interrupt free for the encoder.
