i'm in a play called "baby with the bathwater" by christopher durang. it's hysterically funny. but a troubling/random kinda funny. i love it!! you'll crack up for days after you see it. durang is a GREAT playwright.

My apologies to those of you who actually DO enjoy the sound of ten pins exploding into each other on a regular basis... but I was reminded all over again just a week or so ago why I'm among those who have a 'once a year' bowling habit. =)

Spending some time with extended family between Christmas and New year, in the Detroit area... playing Wii bowling... just enough that the cry went up from everyone to actually leave the house and head for the 'real thing'. OK. It's not that I don't like to bowl... it's more the orchestrated humiliation of it all!

You rent fluorescent-colored, non-grip shoes (that never fit right)... pick out a bowling ball that is always MUCH too heavy... or MUCH too light... and scuffed and gouged and out-of-round because it's been regularly subjected to other hack bowlers who are just like yourself... and you try to gracefully at least stay on your feet as you slip and slide out-of-control on an unbelievably slippery approach to the bowling lane while dozens of strangers stop what they are doing JUST to laugh at you... and hope with all your worth that the ball hits at least SOMETHING (other than the gutter) before you get to go sit down again.

And we pay for this privilege! =)

This is one of my favaourite advts . . . and this scene of a taxi in Poshina reminded me of just that . . . many a times we could not even see the driver. There were people on the bonnet, to his left, right everywhere ....
