Another statue/art piece - apparently dedicated to the sporting history of the park.
While I get the park's sporting connection - the aprk is a popular place for all sorts of people playing sports and the US Open is held there - I don't quite see the link between this statue and sports.
Another shot of the Unisphere in all it's fountainy glory. A bit better than some of the others, in that it includes people so you can see how big the fricking thing actually is. :)
Behind the statue, is apparently where the Tennis US Open was being held at the time. I had wondered why there was so many security guards in the park.
The Unispehere, from the 1964 World's Fair, surrounded by fountains. It was sucha hot day, the light rain of water from the fountains was very refreshing and there were several kids playing in the fountains.
