Roosevelt Plaza, Buffalo, New York (NY) (DSH_0264)

There's lots going on in this photo. It's photographed at dusk at the tail end of the blue hour in the Roosevelt Plaza in downtown Buffalo, NY. The plaza is located at Main Street and Huron Street and honors Theodore Roosevelt who took the presidential oath of office in Buffalo in 1901. It shows the bright white Electric tower center back, the Gold Dome of the M&T Center, and a bronze statue of The Hiker by Allen G. Newman, a monument to the Spanish-American War of 1898. Hiker was a greeting among the infantry men of the war.

The (General) Electric Tower is 294 feet / 13 stories tall and has an octagonal shape.. It was inspired by the electric tower at the Buffalo Pan-American Exposition (1901) and by the Pharos Lighthouse of Alexandria and built in 1912. It is illuminated with different colors throughout the year.

And yes, that bright ball of light to the right of the Electric Tower is an almost full moon. I initially imagined different angle on the Tower but when I saw the moon I had to have it in my photo! :-)

Paris Manga 2012

Manga is the Japanese word for comics and cartoons. In the West, the term "manga" has been appropriated to refer specifically to comics created in Japan, or by Japanese authors, in the Japanese language and conforming to the style developed in Japan in the late 19th century. Every year in Paris there is a Manga convention. These are some pictures from the event.
